About our Gathering Site in Oracle: Triangle
Y Ranch
Oracle, Arizona, set in the foothills of the Catalina
Mountains, is the site of the Tucson YMCA summer
camp. During autumn, winter and spring it is used
as a retreat center. This is a high desert area
with Mesquite trees and cactus.
Oracle is located approximately 1 hour north
of the Tucson International Airport and 2 hours
south of the Phoenix International Airport. We
will arrange for shuttle service from Phoenix
and Tucson airports for the opening and closing
days for an additional fee (the actual price of
the transportation). There are plenty of parking
spaces for those driving.
Oracle Village offers two accommodation options
as noted in the brochure. There are standard cabins
that sleep up to six people (with a detached bathroom)
and a limited number of triple rooms with an attached
bath. The triple rooms will be filled on a first
come, first serve basis. For those who wish to
sleep on the Earth and under the stars, camping
is permitted - but you must bring your own camping
gear.
Since we first began using the YMCA camp they
have built new facilities such as a conference
center with meeting rooms on the ground floor
and a dining room on the top floor overlooking
the distant mountains, a cluster of new cabins,
and a lodge area with triple rooms. Most activities
are held in indoor meeting areas or outdoors gathering
places that are shaded.
If you have any questions about the facilities
contact Lori Levine at leaglebear@aol.com.
You can look up the Triangle Y camp at their website:
www.tucsonymca.org,
or get
directions from the airport. Go to the "Branches"
option in the top menu, and select Triangle Y
Ranch Camp and Retreat Center from the drop-down
menu.
